Substrate Level Phosphorylation
Substrate - Level Phosphorylation
ATP synthesis occurs in two ways.
In the first, substrate level phosphorylation a phosphate transfers from organic compounds to ADP forming ATP.
An enzyme that binds both the substrate and ATP , catalyzes to transfer.
The energy of substrate level phosphorylation comes from the phosphate bond of the substrate.
Some energy escapes as heat when the phosphate group transfers.
