# Linkage and Recombination - Detection of Linkage

To determine whether two gene pairs are linked OR assorting randomly, the conventional method is to compare the number of individuals observed in each phenotypic class WITH those expected on the basis of independent assortment, and then to test the deviation between these values by chi - square.
